Hwy 33 to Rose Valley (and beyond)
World-class riding, right in our backyard! An epic climb up Hwy 33 has incredible views of the ocean and an even epic-er descent. Turn around just past Rose Valley Road, turn into Rose Valley and ride out into the wild, or keep going all the way to Pine Mountain Summit.

Rose Valley
A simply stunning ride. We've made two routes on Strava: one takes the "local way," which is best done with a bike computer to navigate. The second route is simplified for those without directions right in front of them.
Piedra Blanca
For those who want to extend their ride and venture into the wild. Turn into Rose Valley and take the road out to Piedra Blanca trailhead. The only things out here are the trailheads, a gun range, and a few private ranches, so the road is usually very quiet.
Pine Mountain
If you're looking for a BIG day, this is it. Stay on Hwy 33 about another 17 miles and 3,000 ft of climbing past Rose Valley, and you'll be treated to a stunning view of the Cuyama Valley.
Route Notes:
- This ride is hot in the summer! Make sure you're bringing plenty of water, especially if you're going all the way up to Pine Mountain.
- The descent can get very cold in the winter! Bring layers to put on at the top, and watch out for ice on the road.
- If you're looking to avoid traffic, go early in the morning or during the week.
- Most of this ride is outside of cell service, but you can usually get a signal (plus a great view of the ocean) at the big turnout just past Rose Valley Road
